ACTIVE MODE IN DC++

How to become active in DC++:

To be active means basicly that you have nothing that filters or blocks the direct connection between your computer and the other. Things that stop you from being active are firewalls and routers, as they block the so called "ports". So thats where we begin.

Firewall

Start with assuring that your firewall (Windows, ZoneAlarm, Norton etc) is not blocking DC++

In most of the bigger hubs you need to be in active mode to be able to search and download.

This is not because the owner is a boring old dictator but simply because if passive search is off the hubsoft can serve a lot more users. And a lot faster!

It is always better to be in active mode as you get a lot more search results on each search.

Things that stop you from being active are firewalls and routers as they block the "ports" needed for communication.
